Continuous Slurry Mixer Testing: How the MT-30 Solves Ready-Mix Challenges

Continuous Slurry Mixer Testing: How the MT-30 Solves Ready-Mix Challenges

From Concept to Jobsite Performance

In the world of manufacturing, a product isn’t finished just because the CAD drawings are done. The real work happens during Research and Development (R&D) testing, where concepts are pushed to their limits and refined into reliable, jobsite-ready equipment.

For contractors working with neat cement slurry, grout, and lightweight fill, performance isn’t optional. Consistency, control, and uptime are critical. That’s exactly why we developed and tested the MT-30 continuous slurry mixer, to deliver reliable, on-site slurry production without the headaches of ready-mix dependency.

What is R&D Testing for Slurry Mixing Equipment?

At its core, R&D testing is a structured process of putting a prototype through real-world conditions. It’s not just about seeing if something works, it’s about identifying where it might fail, and solving those problems before the equipment ever reaches your jobsite.

We often say: it’s not a matter of if something will fail, but when. That’s why we push our equipment to its limits in controlled environments, so you don’t hit those limits in the field.

Why Contractors Are Moving Away from Ready-Mix Slurry

We didn’t build the MT-30 in a vacuum. We listened to contractors, operators, and project managers working in applications like trench backfill, void fill, annular fill, and cellular concrete production.

The feedback was consistent:

  • Ready-mix slurry puts you at the mercy of someone else’s schedule
  • Inconsistent mix quality leads to rework and wasted material
  • Foreign material (“trash”) in the mix creates performance issues
  • Large equipment setups limit mobility on tight or remote job sites
  • Cleanup is time-consuming and labor-intensive

We knew there had to be a better way.

Our goal was simple: Give contractors full control over mix quality, production timing, and jobsite cleanup with a compact, efficient system.

The MT-30 Continuous Slurry Mixer: Designed for Control

The MT-30 continuous slurry mixer is engineered to produce consistent, high-quality slurry on demand, eliminating the delays and variability of ready-mix delivery.

Key advantages include:

  • On-site slurry production for maximum control
  • Consistent mix quality across applications
  • Reduced downtime and scheduling delays
  • Compact footprint for tight job sites
  • Simplified cleanup compared to traditional systems

From Theory to the Tarmac: Real-World Tanker Testing

To validate performance, we conducted a large-scale test using a pneumatic powder tanker, simulating real jobsite conditions where continuous material flow is critical.

We weren’t aiming for “functional, ” we were aiming for flawless performance under pressure.

Key Test Parameters

Our engineering team focused on the factors that matter most in the field:

  • Tanker Integration: How effectively can the system handle pneumatic cement loading?
  • Operator Synchronization: Can operators stay aligned using real-time visual indicators?
  • Mix Quality & Consistency: Does the system produce uniform slurry output over time?

What We Learned: Performance Insights

The Successes:

  • Flawless Fill Communication: The high-visibility indicator system kept tanker and machine operators perfectly synchronized.
  • Continuous Material Flow: Auto switchover technology helped maintain consistent hopper levels during operation.

The Challenges:

  • Discharge Switchover Timing: A clog occurred during powder discharge due to program timing, highlighting an opportunity for refinement.
  • Mix Efficacy: Testing revealed minor Portland cement agglomerations, indicating the need for improved mixing action.

Engineering Solutions in Progress

R&D is about iteration, and we’re already implementing improvements:

  • Optimizing program logic to ensure smooth switchover timing across fill and discharge cycles
  • Refining the balance between mixing energy and cleanout efficiency
  • Enhancing mixing performance while maintaining fast, easy cleanup

This is how better equipment gets built, by identifying real-world challenges and solving them before they impact your job.

Why On-Site Slurry Mixing Changes the Game

Switching to a continuous slurry mixer like the MT-30 gives contractors a major advantage:

  • No waiting on ready-mix deliveries
  • Full control over mix consistency
  • Reduced labor and cleanup time
  • Improved jobsite efficiency and uptime

For projects involving grout, trench backfill, or lightweight cellular concrete, that control can mean the difference between staying on schedule, or falling behind.

The Richway Difference

At Richway, we’re focused on building equipment that works the way contractors need it to, simple, reliable, and built for real-world conditions. The MT-30 R&D testing has already proven one thing: we’re on the right path.

And while we’re continuing to refine and improve, our mission remains the same: Keep it simple. Keep it fast. And make sure your day ends when the job ends, not hours later cleaning up.
