Richway was contacted to help complete a portion of a large renovation at the Burlington Waste Water Treatment Facility. Cellular concrete was specified to fill five cells in a flow splitter. It provided the advantage of decreasing lateral loads on the surrounding walls. Additionally, if changes were needed later, the material could be easily excavated.

Richway worked with the general contractor and engineering firm to determine that 40 PCF (641 kg/m³) material would be suitable to complete the project. The first four cells were filled in two lifts of 8’ (2.4 m) and 7’ (2.1 m) 16 hours apart. The fifth cell was filled in one 15’ (4.6 m) lift, with less than one inch of shrink in 24 hours.
